Message/Greetings from the President
I am delighted to announce that I have accepted the prestigious position of President of the Japan Society of Gynecologic and Obstetric Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy. As we celebrate the society’s 50th anniversary since its establishment in 1973, I am honored to lead an organization with one of the most distinguished histories in the world, comparable to the esteemed American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Over the years, our society has experienced remarkable growth, and we now stand strong with nearly 5,000 fellow members. It fills me with a deep sense of responsibility to be at the helm of such a vital institution, one that plays a crucial role in advancing research on endoscopy in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
As the purpose of this society is to promote the advancement of endoscopic research in the field of gynecology and obstetrics and to contribute to the welfare of humanity and society, the field of endoscopy in medicine is evolving rapidly, and it is paramount that we stay at the forefront of these advancements to provide world-class diagnosis and treatment. Originally designed as “minimally invasive surgery” for reducing the burden on patients, endoscopy’s benefits have extended far beyond, drastically changing of precise surgical techniques based on microscopic anatomy. The recent introduction of robotic surgery has further transformed the landscape of our practice, and we must embrace these advancements to pioneer new surgical techniques.
As a leader in this ever-changing landscape of obstetrics and gynecology surgery, our society’s role has never been more crucial. It is the responsibility of this society to develop and establish new surgical techniques while adapting to new technologies. It is also essential to steadily fulfill social missions such as the technical certification system in order to maintain the presence of gynecology. Not only do we keep pace with new technologies, but we also work to bridge regional disparities in medical care, ensuring that all patients across Japan have access to the best endoscopic surgery safely. This requires us to redouble our efforts in education, employing various methods to reach every corner of our country.
Bringing together obstetricians and gynecologists involved in endoscopy, our society engages in a wide array of activities. From operating a technical certification system and publishing guidelines to organizing scientific meetings, workshops, and collaborations with other surgical societies, we are committed to making a significant impact. Additionally, our international partnerships allow us to stay on the cutting edge of medical advancements and offer the latest technology to patients through the expansion of insurance treatment. We uphold the values of our society and work tirelessly to contribute to society through public relations activities. I recognize that achieving these goals necessitates the unwavering cooperation of our esteemed members. Together, with obstetricians and gynecologists who share a passion for endoscopic technology, we can continue to pioneer and elevate our field. I am eager to embark on this journey with all of you, and I am confident that together, we will make remarkable strides in the field of obstetrics and gynecology endoscopy.
